Did you watch the England vs. Iceland match last night? Second national disgrace in five days, right?

But there was a glimmer of light when the sky fell in: a first look at The X Factor auditions.

Now, we have been feeling like jaded old cynics about the return of the talent show behemoth (Sharon Osbourne? Really?) but this clip has turned our frowns upside down.

"What's happening?" Louis Walsh asks, adorably, when show producers bring a smoke machine on stage.

OK, not in terms of looks (soz) but in terms of churning out dance floor bangers for sure.

"I’m going to sing a song called Friday night… it’s about Friday night," he says before debuting a song that we can honestly see this sound tracking every Zumba class from here to eternity. Well, September.

Dermot O’Leary dances, the production team dances, Nicole Scherzinger performs some frankly rather racy moves involving throwing water about, Louis looks as though he still doesn't know what's going on and even Simon Cowell gets a groove on.

Well, a little one.

Everyone loves it.

But will this X Factor auditionee make it through?

Let's be honest, the man can't sing. But with Sharon on the panel, anything goes.

Anyone remember Chico? #NeverForget.

Check out the clip to see what you think.

And, question: when has Simon EVER eaten a filet-o-fish? Mind boggling.

He's right though: they are the best things Maccy D's has to offer.

Did you know that Matt Edmonson will be presentingThe Xtra Factor? That's jolly exciting isn't it?
