Honey G’s X Factor journey hasn’t exactly been straight forward so far - she was first given the boot from the show during the Six Chair Challenge before being brought back by judge Sharon Osbourne, and thousands of viewers then signed a petition to have her removed from the series once again.

And she has now been faced with more problems after she was banned from doing her own rap over one of late star David Bowie’s songs this weekend but his estate.

Honey is set to perform Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby, which samples Under Pressure, a song originally written by Bowie and performed by himself and band Queen.

But the late star’s estate insists she must not perform her own rap over the song.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "Bowie’s estate have been very reluctant in letting her use the song, she can’t make it her own in any way and must stick to Vanilla Ice’s version.

A show source added: "Honey is really nervous because her biggest draw is all the gimmicks and personal touches she puts on her raps.

"Now she really has to stick to the format, so she doesn’t want to cause any problems. This could really make or break her."

Honey has been popular with many viewers of the ITV talent contest as she consistently entertains them with her 'urban' performances each week.

But more than 16,000 people signed a petition to have her removed from the programme.

Honey, who has likened herself to such rappers as Missy Elliott and Jay Z, first tried to break into the music industry as an underground DJ during her university years.

However, she later styled herself as a rapper, insisting she’s just what the current urban music scene needs.

The X Factor continues tonight on ITV1 at 8pm.
