Things have been getting so steamy between one X Factor couple that show bosses have reportedly enlisted the help of a burly security guard to keep them apart.

Lovebirds Ryan Lawrie and Emily Middlemas are said to be being followed by a man who has been instructed to keep an eye on them.

Earlier this week, it emerged the pair had been getting close on the steps of the £3.6million X Factor mansion and they were banned from going into each other’s rooms, according to The Sun.

But it seems three isn’t a crowd for Ryan and Emily as they have enjoyed getting to know their new chaperone.

Emily said: "The security guard is literally sitting with us. We hear his stories from what he’s been doing and in his jobs."

Ryan, 20, and Emily, 18, were dating before they won their place in the live finals of this series and have been a couple for eight months.

And their appearance on the show has apparently caused some tense moments between them as Emily was unhappy Ryan was instructed to cuddle up to some of his female backing dancers for a performance.

Ryan said: "In rehearsals I was like, 'Oh I’ve got a few dancers' and she was, like, getting all annoyed at me.

"It’s weird. It’s a weird situation to be in. Choreographer Brian (Friedman) was like, 'We all know you’ve got a girlfriend but for this you don’t.' I was like, 'OK.'"

Emily insisted it would be natural for anyone to find it awkward and said she needed comfort after the incident.
