Controversial health supplements, many of which are endorsed by celebrities on their Twitter and Instagram feeds, have hit the headlines this week –after more than 200 people complained to the ASA about Protein World’s advertising poster.

The poster, which shows a girl in a bikini with the slogan ‘Are you beach body ready?’ has been put up across the country.

But a ‘taking back the beach protest’ has been organised to take place in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.

More than 400 people are expected to attend. By midday on Tuesday more than 50,000 people had signed an online petition calling on Protein World to take down the ads.

Launched two weeks ago by Charlotte Baring, the protest struck a chord with many who complain about the objectification of women in advertising.
