If there's one thing that's always a terrible idea in the age of Twitter, it's getting a fandom of a disbanded group excited about a non-existent reunion.
This is something that a PR of One Direction may be finding out as we speak, as a "future events" tab was added to their website, but then deleted again.
Twitter obviously exploded with overexcited preteens taking this to mean their 'hiatus' (which basically everyone had taken to mean split) would imminently be coming to an end.
The hashtag #ThisIsNotTheEndOfOneDirection started trending, and people were saying things like "When you were starting to loose (sic) hope but they added the 'future events' tab" and "They promised to return… We promised to wait for them" (the latter of which is really quite poetic).
If it was just a mistake, we feel reallllly sorry for their management team right now.
Lol.
Call us pessimistic, but we think the prospects of an imminent reunion are pretty slim, particularly as they're all off having solo careers, playing golf, starring in Hollywood films, bringing up babies and the like.
Liam Payne is back in the studio, and uploaded a frightfully edgy pic of him surrounded by guitars, captioning it: "Hard at work."
We can't WAIT.
But we expect Simon Cowell won't be giving it a cheeky like any time soon, as he was seriously pissed off with Liam for ditching him.
If you'll remember (you should - it was a CRAZY day), Liam informed the world of the news via his Twitter account, posting: "Happy to have signed to @CapitolUK. They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in their footsteps."

And speaking to The Sun, Simon said: "It's a bit annoying if I am honest with you – mainly because it is another label who has not got your artist who you worked with for so many years.
"But that is the music business, unfortunately. I don't think anyone else from the band will do that."
